Computer Chips in humans ?
Most people are aware that veterinarians have the ability to implant computer chips in house pet. Which I agree with because my cat actually has one and it was very convenient to find him when he got lost one winter. However some people have put out the idea of placing these chips in young children. I completely disagree with this thought. I think this is way to risky to have young kids undergo surgery just so they can be tracked all times. They do not need chips implanted in their head just to be tracked. There are many non risky devices that can be used to track your child if that is what your worried about. I don't think parents should have the right to decide whether to implant chips in children's head. The chip will stay their for there whole life and the child will never get the say of whether they did or didn't want the chip. Once they become teenager they will most likely be upset with the fact that without their control or want they can be tracked. If Congress required young children under 5 to have id chips implanted , I would think that is completely out of line. People should be able to make their own decisions and since young children are not old enough to make that big of a decision it should be avoided. I understand the benefits of the tracking for decreasing missing children and such like that , I just don't believe the risk of surgery and freedom of decision are worth that. On the other hand if a parent or relative was to buy gps shoes for a young child or senior with Alzheimer , it would beneficial and appropriate because it would stop the child or senior from getting lost yet they have the ability to remove it whenever.

I feel the same way about parents not having a right to implant an ID chip in their children. It is not their choice because each individual has the right to their own privacy. I'm also on the same page with you about the GPS shoes. It's a much less invasive way of keeping track of somebody on their own terms.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your feelings on tracking devices. Each individual should have their own choice to have a chip put into them because it is their bodies not anyone else's. Also I like your GPS alternative to the tracking device. That is a really good point, there are other methods of keeping people safe than planting a chip.
